Dr Hinamaha and Dr Fiona entered Medical School and General Practice wanting to serve the people of South Auckland, taking a special interest in Pacific and Maori health. They both trained at the University of Auckland and primarily at Middlemore Hospital. In 2014 they were given the opportunity to establish a new clinic ‘’Southpoint Family Doctors”. Both doctors highly value the relationship between a patient and clinician, working together to design plans to support them on their health journey; to help educate and inform patients so that they feel empowered to make the right choices and decisions for their well-being. They recognise that each person is a member of a family and community, and that health goals and plans need to be holistic, considering the Fonofale and Te Whare Tapa Wha models of care (Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual).
